They are one of the world's best-selling music artists, with album sales of over 100 million (six studio albums, live albums and compilations). Dire Straits currently have five songs in my list of about 200 best pop/rock songs of all time.
About the song: Tunnel of love is a track from the 1980 album Making movies. Starting intriguingly and originally with a sound bite from Cole Porter's Carousel, this song with its perfect instrumentation manages to not overstay its welcome in spite of its length - a clear flirtation with the by then almost dead progressive rock genre.
