About the band: Talk Talk were a British band formed in 1981, led by Mark Hollis. They started out as a new wave type synthpop band, but gradually their sound became more postrock avant la lettre. After five studio albums, the band disbanded in 1991. Talk Talk currently have one song in my list of about 200 best pop/rock songs of all time.
About the song: the 1984 album It's my life is a beautiful record on the crossroads between New Wave and New Romanticism - a little influenced by late Roxy Music, but still very much their own sound. Three songs of the album charted as single releases, but for me the best is the relatively unknown love song Renee, delivered in Hollis' characteristic half-wailing manner. Run time 6:22.
