They dance alone (Sting)

About the artist: Sting (1951) is a British musician and actor. He was the principal songwriter, lead singer, and bassist for the new wave rock band the Police from 1977 to 1984, and launched a solo career in 1985. He released 13 studio albums, of which the first ones were the most successful. Sting currently has two songs in my list of about 200 best pop/rock songs of all time.

About the song: They dance alone is a track of his second solo album, Nothing like the sun from 1987. It is his most ambitious and undoubtedly also his best song in my opinion. Sting's strong commitment to Amnesty International led him to compose this seven minute gem on the crazy mothers of Chile, who dance in public with pictures of their lost ones, the victims of the fascist regime. His integrity in dealing with such a heavy subject is never in doubt, and the result is awesome. Run time 7:16.
