About the band: Radiohead are a British rock band formed in 1985. Their unique experimental progressive rock albums released from 1995 onward (especially The Bends and OK Computer) were well received by critics and public. They have made nine studio albums so far. Radiohead currently have two songs in my list of about 200 best pop/rock songs of all time.
About the song: Street spirit (Fade out) is a track from the 1995 album The Bends, and probably one of the bleakest songs this side of Mahler's Kindertotenlieder. singer Thom Yorke said it was about "fighting with the devil and losing every time." He has trouble playing it at concerts, because it's so draining to look into the eyes of a cheering audience when singing of total despair. Run time 4:12.
