Bubbling under: Equinoxe II (Jean Michel Jarre)
Jean Michel Jarre (image credit), the son of the famous film composer Maurice Jarre, made a tremendous impact in the later half of the seventies with his all-electronic albums Oxygene and Equinoxe. Maybe not the absolute pioneer of the genre (Vangelis and Kraftwerk comes to mind for that), but definitely the one that put it on the map by drawing attention from the masses. His first two albums were million sellers, and the singles drawn from them rank among the most successful instrumentals ever. The absolute highlight is the second track of his second album from 1978, which evokes a summer evening on the beach.
