Bubbling under: Ordinary world (Duran Duran)

Duran Duran (image credit), one of the most consistently successful bands of the eighties came back out of nowhere in early 1993 with a new self-titled album and a smash hit, Ordinary World. It is a lush power ballad, with great lyrics reflecting the feelings after a break-up and return to single life ("Passion or coincidence once prompted you to say: 'Pride will tear us both apart' - Well now pride's gone out the window, cross the rooftops, run away, left me in the vacuum of my heart."). No matter how much fun most of their eighties' hits are, this song is their crowning achievement.
