60. I hear you now (Jon and Vangelis)

Jon and Vangelis (image credit) is a collaboration between singer Jon Anderson of Yes and synthesizer viruoso Vangelis Papathanassiou, who has come a long way since first charting in the sixties as member of the band Aphrodites Child. Nowadays he is mainly recognised for his film music, with outstanding scores for movies such as Chariots of Fire and Conquest of Paradise. In the late seventies, Vangelis teamed up with Jon Anderson to record a number of classic songs. The song I hear you now from the 1980 album Short stories is by far their best effort. Jons eerie voice sounds better than on any Yes song and proves a perfect match for the synthesizer magic of Vangelis. The version I selected is the album cut, with its longer instrumental intro.

Other songs by this act that would have qualified: not applicable.
